In today's world IAT can be a 5 year coolant, HOAT stays at 5 years I think, and OAT is anywhere from 5 to 10 years change interval. Then there's the warnings about mixing coolants, DexCool being a disaster and don't do this and don't do that. Orange is better suited for newer cars with an aluminum block, while green is better for older cars. Green coolant uses inorganic additive technology while orange uses organic acid technology. So, they made things confusing for the Consumer and added different colors to make it more confusing. The main difference between green and orange antifreeze is the ingredients. HOAT, being a combination, is not quite as old. If you travel a lot, you may want to keep the green in.
